FAQ
What is Make IT Matter?
It’s a weekend of workshops that will teach you about product development – from initial idea to finished product. Under the guidance of Spotify employees, you’ll learn about ideation, evaluating feasibility and product testing. And over the weekend, you’ll work together to come up with a sustainable, environmentally-friendly product to present to your fellow participants.
When and where is it?
Make IT Matter takes place between 20-22 November at the Spotify HQ in Stockholm. On the Friday night, there’ll be an optional get-together from 7pm, when you can meet the other participants and get ready for the weekend ahead.
So is this one of those hackathons?
No, Make IT Matter is all about the process of product development – it won’t focus on programming. However, we hope you’ll continue to develop the amazing concepts you come up with over the weekend.
Will it be very competitive?
No, we want you to learn and work together – not against one another. You’ll be able to see everyone else’s work throughout the weekend and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for questions and discussions.
Why should I take part?
This is an amazing chance to make friends and learn new skills. The Spotify office is a pretty cool place and you’ll get the inside track on how a big company handles its product development.
How much does it cost?
The workshops are free and Spotify will cover your travel, accommodation and meal costs for the weekend.
Who will be selected to participate?
We’re looking for people with the heart in the right place and great skills. We appreciate a genuine interest in the tech industry and diversity matters. While going through the applications we will look at if you have a passion for creating, sharing and learning. We would love team players and creators to apply, people who are open for building bridges and lighting fires.
Who can apply?
Any university student in Sweden with a passion for technology and a background in design, programming, product development or management. We’re looking for people who are creative, eager to learn and work well in team situations.
When’s the closing date?
Applications will close at midnight on 16 October and we’ll contact those who’ve been successful the following week.
